Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. – Greg Anderson
We labeled them the ‘might as wells’. Things we’d be passing close to, but didn’t necessarily need to see. Our trip was about the big sights: Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone. Among those behemoths of the US National Park system, Crater Lake National Park wasn’t high on our list. So, it was relegated to the ‘might as wells’.
The drive there was cathartic; the wide-open highway alternated between groves of encroaching trees and vast swaths of farmland ringed by snow-dusted peaks. Our road trip playlist cranked out some classic 90’s West Coast punk as we drew closer to the place we’d decided we might as well visit.
